It’s been a good 2 weeks or so and I have had enough time with this Open Sky 2 to give you some feedback. It is head and shoulders above my JJ HR* Custom Dark. I A/B-ed the two pieces side by side and my refaced piece could not quite compare. Once I determined the tuning sweet spot of this piece on my horn, I was blown away by the response and ease of playing! Especially the high notes, they just pop out at my command! I also love how incredibly easy it is for me to control, shape and bend the sound according to what’s in mind. When I give more air, the notes come out robust and project across the room, and when I whisper, the notes still retain their character.
Sub tone is also effortless on this! The dynamic range of this piece is just superb. Unlike anything I have experienced before. I got some Marca Superior 2.5 reeds as you recommended and no regrets! I might try some 3s and see how they go.
