Well, Joe, what can I say? he mouthpiece is simply fabulous, I’ve been playing it for two days now almost no stop, which seems to confirm my suspicion that a good mpc makes you improve not only because of its design, acoustics etc., but also because it makes you want to practice more…Anyway, if you like some more detailed feedback, these are the things I like:
1.the word for it is “playability”, I guess. I would better define this as the ease with which it literally lets me sculpt the sound. There is a huge range of expression and dynamics. It feels like I’m not playing a mpc with its quirks and peculiarities, but I’m playing myself through a mouthpiece I can forget about. I wonder if that’s due mostly to the lack of baffle and the long facing.
2.it’s very reed-friendly. I’ve tried it with Lavoz, Rico Royal, Hemke, Alexander, Selmer, Francois Louis, reeds in the 2 to 3 range. Mostly, I don’t get the feeling of rope-walking I get with mpc’s which play with few selected reeds and makes.
3.I like the way the sound opens up in the second octave. I think I mentioned before I can’t stand a thinning second-octave sound.
There’s much more, I stop here because I have the feeling there might be more little or not-so-little details waiting to manifest the more I practice and the better I get to know the mpc (you get out of it what you put into it?).
