The Coro ~ 1 arrived today and I’ve just had a chance to play it. IT IS INCREDIBLE!!!! This mouthpiece is simply the best I have ever played. It sings with a beautiful, rich “flavor” to the sound. If I push it a bit I can almost get a Bechet kind of feel but I can also get a classical feel to the sound when I adjust the air.
I can also feel that I stand a chance of getting that beautiful Grover Washington sound with this piece. JUST AMAZING!
And it does, indeed, play like butter!! The pitch over the whole horn is spot on! As I mentioned to you earlier I have always struggled a bit to get good intonation in the high notes but with this mouthpiece the high notes – including palm keys – just popped out AND were totally in tune!! It’s quite a revelation actually. I never thought I could sound so good!! LOL!!
I literally took the mouthpiece out of the package – thanks for the reed and ligature by the way – and started to play. The response was immediate – right out of the gate! Effortless in a way. I couldn’t quite believe how good it sounded. I had not warmed up at all and the first note sounded rich AND was in tune!
I cannot wait to spend many, many hours playing my soprano now that I have the Coro!!
I am overjoyed with this mouthpiece!
