1971 Selmer Mark VI soprano saxophone “the sound”

$4,950.00

Eddie Xiques was always a first-call saxophonist in NYC and beyond. His long tenure with Thad Jones/ Mel Lewis Band, his playing with 10 Wheel Drive, Liza Minelli, McCoy Tyner, Frank Sinatra and pretty much everybody else, meant that he was always on the bandstand. And this soprano sax was there for virtually all of it.

Ed bought it new in 1971 and played it since then. It shows. Lots of lacquer loss at all the touches and handling points, but no dings or dents, no resolders. The horn has recently been overhauled using black roo pads. It is set up with smooth, fast action.

And the sound is special. Ed didn’t own a horn that wasn’t special.

This horn comes with an as-new Pro-Tec case.

The Xiques family wants a player to have this horn and to know that it is being used.
